Player Selection Process and Tryout Logistics
Purpose
The purpose of the tryout process is to evaluate players in a fair and organized manner and place them on the appropriate team based on skill level, development potential, and team needs.
Team Selection Schedule
To maintain organization and allow focused evaluation, teams will be selected in stages over multiple tryout days.
Day 1 – First Team Selection
Coaches will evaluate all players and identify those who meet the level required for the first team.
Selected players for the first team will be notified after the session or at the end of the day.
Players not selected for the first team will continue to attend the following tryout session(s).
Day 2 – Second Team Selection
Remaining players will participate in the second day of tryouts.
Coaches will select players for the second team based on performance and team needs.
Day 3 – Third Team Selection
All remaining players will participate in the third day of tryouts.
Coaches will continue evaluating players from the previous sessions.
Players will be selected for the third team based on performance, development potential, and team needs.
Final placements will be determined after the completion of the third day of evaluations.
Player Notification
Players who are selected during the first, second, or third day of tryouts will receive a postcard notification from the coaching staff.
The postcard indicates that the player has been selected for a team within the club’s competitive program.
Players who do not receive a postcard at the end of the tryout process will not be invited to participate on the club’s competitive teams.
Important to Remember
Players who receive a contact card will receive information on how to complete the registration process.
Players must complete their registration by the stated deadline. If a player does not register by the deadline, they will lose their spot and the position will be offered to the next player on the list.
If you receive a card but do not wish to join the team, please notify the club by emailing information@laniersoccer.org.
Players are required to attend all scheduled tryout sessions. If a player fails to attend a tryout session, they will automatically lose their spot, even if they received a card on the first day.
