From Quito to leading LSA

Originally from Quito, Ecuador, Jonathan Cueva played in the youth academy and professionally at Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito (LDU Quito). His experience as a player became part of the foundation for a career in coaching and leadership, bringing the perspective of the game’s development pathway to his work with players.

Today, as Executive Director of Lanier Soccer Association, Jonathan brings that lifelong passion for soccer and extensive leadership experience to LSA. His coaching background spans Academy and MLS programs, and he has led teams to Regional Premier League and UPSL Division 1 championships. His experience also includes a first-place finish at the World Futsal Championship at Disney in Orlando, Florida.

Alongside his experience on the field, Jonathan holds a B.S. in P.E. & Leadership from the University of North Georgia. He attended the César Luis Menotti Coaching School in Argentina, and his coaching education includes CONMEBOL ‘A’ and ‘B’ licenses, a USSF ‘A’ License, a National ‘Y’ License, and the NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma. He also received a continuing education diploma in branding from Harvard University, adding another perspective to his work in building LSA’s identity and direction.

Under Jonathan’s leadership, LSA expanded its competitive pathway with the addition of MLS, SCCL, DPL, and NAL programs. The club also opened two new branches, MLS Norcross and LSA Union, extending its reach and creating more opportunities for players. His playing experience, coaching education, and leadership continue to shape LSA’s growth and its commitment to players at every level.
