Your grades matter, no matter where you plan to go to college.
In-state schools: Programs like Zell Miller and HOPE can help pay for college, and a strong GPA makes a big difference for earning these scholarships.
Out-of-state schools: A high GPA can still earn you academic scholarships and make you more attractive to college coaches.
For tests like the SAT or ACT, start preparing early. If you’re not happy with your score, retake it—higher scores can help with admission, scholarships, and athletic eligibility.
-
Building a list of 5–10 schools that match your goals and aspirations is a key step in the college selection process.
Remember, your college dreams might not always match your parents’ vision & that’s okay. Open and honest conversations with your parents will help everyone stay on the same page, so you can focus on realistic goals.
Take time to research each school carefully. Keep a notebook to track your findings, compare programs, and make informed decisions about where you want to apply.
-
Recruiting usually starts after your sophomore year, but each school has to follow the rules of its governing body.
The NCAA (Divisions I, II, and III), NAIA, and NJCAA all have different rules about recruiting, contact with players, & college visits.
Take the time to learn the recruiting rules for the schools on your list. Knowing the rules will help you stay on top of important timelines and make the process less stressful.
-
Each year, LSA hosts a special College Showcase, inviting colleges and universities to see our players in action. This event is designed exclusively for LSA athletes and gives you a chance to showcase your skills in front of college coaches.
For the upcoming year:
Girls’ Showcase: TBD
Boys’ Showcase: TBD
We expect at least 10 top colleges from the Southeastern region to attend, looking to connect with & recruit talented players from our LSA community.
Don’t miss this opportunity to get noticed!
